:couch: I loved nick of time - it reallyhad me on the edge of my seat throughout. Of course Johnny's Blockbusters are amazing but i think his not so known about films are just as exciting too. Loved the scenes with the shoe shine bloke too - johnny played that really well.

wow, when I saw that thread up on top, I thought I'd jump in Haven't seen that one either in a long while. The end was a bit aprupt, but on the other side how should this one end different
I liked that movie too. Johnny did a great job and he was kinda sweet in that for him maybe a bit 'too normal' role. I mean the guy he played seemed so 'regular'... do you know what I mean?
Now I found the word I was looking for... conventional

I think it was good that he played a normal guy as it shows the variety he can pull off - and think when he was in the lift and he was sweating etc - that wold have been pretty hard. It had me sweating! Yes, a hectic ending but a relief too - loved the whole film - i thought there was a great balance going through it.

I think that's even one of the most difficult things: playing just a normal guy. There's not much you can add to such a role, know what I mean? Nothing that could be overplayed. At least he could show fear I know that from theater that I found it very hard to be just normal or just on stage, not having much to add to a scene. How do you fill the role with life then? That's what I meant. hope this makes any sense :lmao:

It makes complete sense... So, when do we throw this one in for all of us to watch together?

I'm actually booked out until after the 4th of July weekend, for a weekend viewing... I know evenings are difficult, due to the time differences. Unless we do a Sunday one... (Do you love how I do my thinking "outloud"?) I'll put a post in the Movie Chat section and see if anyone else is interested...

I think Nick of Time feels like an Alfred Hitchcock film. The title, story plot, the use of different types of clocks and of course it keeps you in suspense. Recently, I got the dvd of Vertigo starring Jimmy Stewart and after watching it and then later I watched Nick of Time, it just seemed like I was watching another AH movie. Have to admit that I haven't watched NOT as much as my other JD dvds but I still enjoyed it and even tho' I knew how it ends, it still kept me on the edge of my seat.

I believe Nick Of Time was actually loosely based off of Hitchcock's film "The Man Who Knew Too Much."

Thanks SparrowSpazz for the info regarding "The Man Who Knew Too Much." It's one of AH's films that I've only seen once a long time ago on TV. However, on the "Vertigo" dvd, one of the bonus features was about the movies AH made and this was one that they showed a clip of and I can see how NOT could be based on this film. Thanks again for the info.
